Utah Red Horn Coral has become one of those rocks where prices have shot to the stratosphere. This happens when the supply dries up and people want some anyway. This piece is a large display specimen at an affordable price featuring mixed red and white and a polished red agate layer.
Someone at the mega-site Etsy thinks that a single coral is worth just less than $1,000.00. (See the links below.) Because I have a very limited supply, I don't offer it all the time. I have several truly museum quality specimen pieces available here at KinesavaROCKS (unless someone has bought them).

My dad had a role in opening up the site in the foothills of the Uinta Mountains of Utah more than half a century ago. You can read all about that in a blog essay here:
The best information I can find on the web is that the dig site has been closed for quite a few years now. The story of what it's like to rockhound Utah red horn coral today can be seen at:
Rockhounding Utah Red Horn Coral Today
Someone -- probably someone like me who has inherited corals -- appears to have sold out to an industrial scale jewelry manufacturer somewhere, probably in Asia. I've seen floods of Utah agatized barite, Utah Tempskya Fern, and now Utah red horn coral converted into virtually identical pieces of jewelry and offered at virtually identical prices at Ebay.
About two years ago, I wrote this in the description of a pile of smaller corals that has now been sold. "They will probably be available for a few months and then you won't see them again." That has turned out to be exactly right. I just searched Ebay and they're all gone.
Just like the burst of coral for sale from Asia, when these are gone, they're gone.
