Two pieces of rich brown petrified wood.
One of the best features of these chunks of petrified wood is the dramatic grain found in them. A lot of petrified wood is a "cast" -- that is, it's a fossil of a hole in the ground where a piece of organic wood used to be. The only thing that that identifies it as wood is the outside surface.
These pieces of petrified wood are perfect for both display and lapidary work. One would be great on a library bookshelf or in a display case. The other would be great to work into cabs. They would even look great in an aquarium.
My dad didn't find these pieces. A local rockhound in the south west corner of Utah found them and asked me to list them. And that's pretty much all I know.
If you're interested in more than just these rocks, you can save a few dollars by combining several items in the same custom order and shipping in a cost-effective USPS flat rate padded envelope. Send me a message! I love to work with people to get just the right rocks they're looking for.
